In New York this past month, the High Line officially opened to the public. After ten years of advocacy, planning and construction, visitors are now free to wander along the elevated rail-turned-park originally built in the 1930s. The timing could not be more apropos, considering it was during those years that America found itself in a significant economic slump, much like the one we are in today. Walking along the High Line transports you back to an era where things were handmade and craftsmen and tradesmen were respected for their skillful work.
